Having worked for over 20 years in the IT industry for a major UK Charity and a FTSE 250 Company, Mark formed his own consultancy company - Grove80 Limited advising and training in IT implementations for a range of clients from large businesses to small local organisations. These included web site creation; network and infrastructure design and implementation; Office Package Training; video production; and email and database migrations. He also trains in Energy Efficiency and sustainability.

Mark also works as an Adult and Community Learning Tutor with Blackpool Council developing and running courses in Basic IT, Digital Photography, Movie making, Committee Skills and Family Science.

Mark studied for the MSc Architecture: Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies, receiving a distinction; and a PGCE in Post Compulsory Education.

Since March 2010 Mark has also been responsible for the development of the Blackpool Adult and Community Learning implementation of the Fronter Virtual Learning Environment; Ascentis Online testing software; and support for Windows 7 and XP laptops used by ACL in sites not supported by the Blackpool Council IT department.

Mark is a speaker for WaterAid giving talks to various groups (such as primary schools, Guides groups, Rotary Clubs, and women’s groups) on climate change, water poverty, sanitation and the work of WaterAid.

IT, Consultancy and Management Experience
The major period of Mark’s working life to date has been in Information Technology. He has a vast range of experience in both a global FTSE 250 company and a UK top 100 charity, as well as with small voluntary, community and commercial organisations.

Communicating with end users and senior management at all levels, Mark has been involved in the planning and implementation of successful IT projects on a global basis, with particular responsibility for aspects of project and technical management, including interfacing between customer’s and supplier’s technical support departments. Misys adopted the Prince2 project management methodology, and Mark was internally trained in this methodology.

Mark successfully designed, implemented, and project managed the migration from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003 / Active Directory for Misys Banking Systems globally and the integration of the Active Directories, email systems, and Novell directories of various software companies acquired by Misys.

Mark was responsible for the implementation and management of anti-virus and anti-spam solutions and policy and the disaster recovery planning and testing of Microsoft based systems.

Mark was technical consultant on several Misys Banking Citrix and SQL application installations involving capacity and performance planning and diagnostics, at customer sites and internally at Misys data centre based in Wimbledon.

Mark also has experience in the successful integration of Linux based and Microsoft based IT systems within the banking and Finance sectors, as well as Citrix/Terminal Server application porting.
